We built the Makapu’u-T Ukulele for the player ready to take their sound, and their style, to the next level. This instrument is a ukulele that makes the player, not vice versa, and embodies our vision for bold, performance-ready design that’s only available from Lanikai.
A confluence of North American, Japanese, and traditional Hawaiian techniques has helped us create a process as unique as our Makau instruments themselves. By partnering with a generations old Hawaiian wood re-seller we are able to hand select solid Hawaiian woods and veneers grown on the fertile mountainous slopes of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kae on the Big Island of Hawai’i.
The “Makapu’u” Tenor Ukulele is a chambered body ukulele with a Solid True Mahogany Body and Solid Hawaiian Koa top. It features 20 frets on a True Indian Rosewood Fingerboard, hand-rubbed oil and wax finish, hand wired single piezo pickup with volume control, and a gorgeous Abalone “Makau” inlay – a traditional Hawaiian symbol for happiness used in the islands for hundreds of years.
By controlling our production process from start to finish using the best tools and materials available, traditional ukulele design is perfected through modern innovations and strict quality control. Quality, design, and generations of craftsmanship converge to create a true legacy instrument built to last.
Includes deluxe gig bag and hand carved Koa Makau pendant necklace.
